As it does every single year, the NBA delivers an entertaining slate of games on Christmas Day. In the article, we’ll take a look at some of our favorite NBA player props for Christmas Day.

This year, the action kicks off with Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans taking on Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat, and then it closes with Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and the LA Clippers looking for revenge against Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic, and the Denver Nuggets. In between those contests, Stephen Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Luka Donic will be on the court to give us quite the NBA Christmas Day.

Zion Williamson – Over 21.5 points

Opening up the season against the Toronto Raptors, Zion Williamson went for 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists. One might see that stat line, realize Williamson is going up against a Miami Heat team that plays solid defense, and want to back the under on Williamson’s player prop of 21.5 points. Look a little deeper into the stat sheet and you can find that Williamson played fewer than 30 minutes (29.6).

If you were to stop there, you’d miss that the reason Williamson played fewer than 30 minutes was that he got into foul trouble. Williamson played fewer than 13 minutes in the first half before logging 17 in the second half. In a game we expect to be close (the point spread is Heat (-4) at time of writing), we expect Williamson’s minutes to go up.

It’s only the second game of the season and it’s a tough one against Miami, but this is a game the Pelicans will want to win and one they can win. We expect Williamson to see plenty of action that can set him up to hit the over on 21.5 points.

Zion Williamson – Over 7.5 rebounds

Williamson was able to log 10 rebounds in his first game of the season despite playing fewer than 30 minutes. As we discussed above, we expect Williamson’s minutes to go up and him pushing 34-35 minutes against the Heat. With him being on the court that much, we’re fans of another Williamson player prop over, this time on 7.5 rebounds.

Over the last two seasons, the Heat allow 9.59 rebounds per game to versatile forwards, and Williamson is a freak of a versatile forward. He’s a big body who is extremely athletic with ridiculous jumping ability. Combine his attributes with the court time we expect him to get and the chance that Miami’s shooting could lead to plenty of rebound opportunities, and we like Williamson to go over 7.5 rebounds in this one.

Tyler Herro – Over 16.5 points

Tyler Herro is another player we like in the Pelicans-Heat game. For a Herro player prop, we like the over on 16.5 points for the budding star.

Herro boomed onto the map in the NBA bubble at the end of last season, so much so that he’s locked in a ton of minutes in the Heat lineup. In the team’s first game of the season, Herro logged more than 32 minutes. He only put up 13 points, which is short of the 16.5 line that’s posted for Christmas Day, but Herro only shot 1/5 from three-point land. Herro is a player who shoots well over 30% from behind the arc, so seeing him put up just 20% from three in the first game was a surprise.

The shots are there, as Herro had 14 total field goal attempts in the first game, and we can see him knocking down a couple more threes in order to hit the over on 16.5 points.

Steph Curry – Over 25.5 points

The Golden State Warriors will go as Stephen Curry goes. The sharpshooter put up 20 points in a little more than 30 minutes on Wednesday, but Curry shot just 2/10 from behind the arc. Curry is going to get minutes and he’s going to get shots. We know how good of a shooter Curry is, so we’re confident those shots will go down plenty to give us a nice path to hitting the over on this player prop.

The Warriors were run out of the building by the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. That was just one game, but it seems pretty clear that this Golden State team is only going to be able to compete when Curry is on. Going up against the Milwaukee Bucks on Christmas Day, we expect Curry to have a big game.

The Bucks have an implied team total of more than 120 points, so we expect Milwaukee to score a bit in this one. If Golden State wants to hang anywhere near the Bucks, it’s going to be on the shoulders of Curry, who can shoot the lights out against anyone.

Andrew Wiggins – Under 17.5 points

Andrew Wiggins is off to a tough start to the season. Although it’s only been one game, it’s hard to imagine things getting any easier for him on Christmas Day for two reasons. One, he’ll be going up against a Bucks squad that locks down on the opposition nicely. Two, Draymond Green is still out, which means the defense can focus a little more on Wiggins than it would be able to if Green was on the court.

Kyrie Irving – Under 24.5 points

If Kemba Walker were playing, we’d like this spot much more for Kyrie Irving. Walker is out, though, and Marcus Smart will see plenty of minutes at PG for the Boston Celtics. Smart defending against Irving will be one of the tougher matchups Irving sees this season. Even though Irving is incredibly talented, we see him being more of a facilitator to his buddy Kevin Durant in this one.

We like the under on 24.5 points for this Irving player prop pick. If we were to take an over for Irving, we’d lean toward going the route of his points + rebounds + assists player prop, which can allow him to come under on his point total but hit the combined over thanks to the rebounds and assist he tallies.

Jayson Tatum – Under 27.5 points

Jayson Tatum is getting a ton of love after hitting the game-winning shot for the Boston Celtics against the Bucks in the team’s opener on Wednesday, but we feel this point total is a little too high for Tatum. Getting to 28 points to hit the over on this player prop is a lot to ask, especially with as good as Durant looked in his first game, which leads us to believe he’ll be on the court plenty to play some very good defense.

Luka Doncic – To score a double-double

It’s hard to look at Luka Doncic‘s player prop for points and want to take the over, simply because it’s difficult to back an over on points when the total is 30 or more. It’s also a tough spot to bet against Doncic, as he can go off on any given night, especially with Kristaps Porzingis out of the lineup and everything going through Doncic.

The player prop we do like is for Doncic to score a double-double, if you can find it. We found it for -200 at DraftKings Sportsbook. Doncic is an animal on the court and on the stat sheet. He can fill up his points, rebounds, and assists totals like crazy. In this Christmas Day game against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, Doncic is going to need to perform at an extremely high level to keep his team in the game. We expect Doncic to log a ton of minutes and secure a double-double.

LeBron James – Under 23.5 points

LeBron James said he is good to go for Christmas Day after turning his ankle in the team’s opener on Wednesday. Do we trust him? Sure, but that doesn’t mean James can’t take it a little easier or trim some minutes here or there to start the season as he ramps up. It also helps when you’ve got Anthony Davis to pick up the slack.

The Lakers don’t need a massive game from James to beat the Dallas Mavericks, at least until Porzingis gets back in there for Dallas. In addition to Davis, Dennis Schroder is capable of picking up any slack, and then Montrezl Harrell should have a good day down around the rim against the Mavericks.

We’ll take the under on 23.5 points for this James player prop, although we wouldn’t be surprised to see him hit this under while also logging a double-double or triple-double.

Paul George – Over 22.5 points

The LA Clippers looked as though they were on a mission in the team’s first game of the season, beating the Lakers 116-109 with a 33-point outing from Paul George. The vibe the Clippers gave off was that the game meant a little extra to them and it translated to a big win. Now, the Clippers get a revenge game against the Denver Nuggets, who were the ones who bounced the Clippers from the NBA bubble last season after many had picked the Clippers to go on and win it all. George specifically remembers that series.

The Nuggets are a good team, with studs Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray doing the heavy lifting. While those are very nice players, we like the duo of George and Kawhi Leonard better. We expect George to log a lot of minutes once again (he played 35.8 minutes on Wednesday) and do so with a giant chip on his shoulder.

An over/under of 22.5 points feels a full point or two low for George, and we like him to his the over on this player prop.

Nicolas Batum – Over 12.5 points + rebounds + assists

On Wednesday, Nicolas Batum logged more than 28 minutes for the Clippers due to Marcus Morris being out. Batum had 3 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists in that game, and guess what? Marris is out again for Friday’s game against the Nuggets.

Batum is an experienced player who can give the Clippers plenty of positive minutes, especially with Morris out. If we expect him to be on the court for a similar amount of time as he was on Wednesday, we really like him to hit over 12.5 points + rebounds + assists for this player prop.
