Week 10 of the NFL season wraps up with the Minnesota Vikings traveling to Illinois to take on the struggling Chicago Bears, losers of three straight games. In this Monday Night Football betting preview, we’ll break down the Vikings vs. Bears matchup from an NFL betting perspective and provide a few free picks for the game.

Minnesota Vikings (-3.5) at Chicago Bears

Nick Foles and the Chicago offense have been nothing short of brutal this season. Since October, they are averaging just over 17 points a game. Meanwhile, the Vikings have literally ridden Dalvin Cook to two straight wins and could inch themselves closer to a potential wild card if they are able to win a third straight. Let’s dive in a bit deeper.

Kirk Cousins in Primetime

There are three things in life that are certain: death, taxes, and Kirk Cousins struggling in primetime games. In particular, Cousins has been shockingly bad on Monday Night Football, with a career record of 0-9 straight up and against the point spread. Most notably, Cousins was terrible in what was essentially a playoff game late last season, when the Vikings lost 23-10 as 4-point favorites at home against the Green Bay Packers.

Facing another solid defense tonight in Chicago, there’s really no reason to think that Cousins won’t have another rough game, though having Cook cooking on all cylinders recently will certainly take a good amount of pressure off of Cousins.

Injuries Piling Up for Chicago

The Bears have been on a three-game downswing and will be without a few of their key components on both sides of the ball for this key divisional showdown tonight. David Montgomery is out with a concussion, so the team has activated veteran RB Lamar Miller off the practice squad to fill in the void. They will also be without DL John Jenkins and backup QB Mitch Trubisky will also be inactive. Additionally, Allen Robinson, Cole Kmet, and Barkevious Mingo are all questionable to play tonight. It will be a patchwork offense out there against a Vikings defense that is improving after getting off to a slow start this season.

Point Spread Pick: Bears (+3.5)

This pick is solely based on fading Cousins on Monday Night Football. Simply put, we can’t pick the Vikings here until Cousins proves he can get it done under the bright lights. The fact that the Bears are getting points here, at home, in what appears to be sub-optimal weather conditions, looks too good to be true. This pick would take a big hit if stud WR Robinson is ultimately ruled out, but at the moment, getting points with Chicago is too tempting to pass up.

Dalvin Cook Player Prop: Over 86.5 rushing yards

There is zero question who the best running back on the planet has been in the past month: it’s Dalvin Cook.

Cook has logged 181, 130, 163, and 206 yards in four of his last five games, and there is no reason to think that will slow down tonight, despite the fact that Chicago has a tough defense. Add on the aforementioned primetime struggles for Cousins and the Vikings should have to lean heavy on their all-world back to carry them to what they hope will be their third win in a row.

Darnell Mooney Player Prop: Over 3.5 catches

Darnell Mooney has quickly emerged as one of Foles’ favorite targets in recent weeks. He has back-to-back five-catch games, and last week, the speedster registered a whopping 11 targets. Even if Robinson plays tonight, he won’t be at 100%, so Foles will likely be looking early and often at his new favorite toy. Take the over on this player prop.
