Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone! Just like it did on Christmas Day, the NBA gives us a slate of games to bet on and sweat. There are seven games scheduled for Tuesday, December 31, 2019, including the Golden State Warriors taking on the San Antonio Spurs and the Denver Nuggets battling with the Houston Rockets. Those two games feature our best NBA betting picks of the day.

Alec Burks, SG, Golden State Warriors

– Under 3.5 Assists (-110)

For the first NBA betting pick of Tuesday, we’re looking at a player prop for Alec Burks, shooting guard for the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors are finally healthy and the role of primary ball handler for Burks has ended. He was playing minutes in the mid 30s and now he has only averaged 25 minutes in his last three games. The emergence of Damion Lee has also cut into Burks playing time and production, but the props have not kept up with this.

Burks’ player prop line is only over/under 3.5 assists for Tuesday night, and I will be jumping on the under. I haven’t written up enough under bets this season and I’m going to try and do a better job of that going forward. It’s good to look for situations where players can benefit but there are always opportunities to take advantage of lines that are too high based on recent opportunity compared to their role. This is one of those situations that we are going to take advantage of.

Burks’ minutes are down, his role has changed, and the line hasn’t adjusted. Let’s attack the under at 3.5 assists.

Houston Rockets (-4.5)

The second NBA betting pick we’ve got lined up for Tuesday night is on the point spread in the game between the Denver Nuggets and Houston Rockets, where we like the Rockets (-4.5).

The Rockets are banged up right now, but they also are returning one of their key pieces in Eric Gordon. They missed Russell Westbrook due to rest while Clint Capela and James Harden had minor injuries as well on Sunday. None of them played but sounded like it could have been a possible rest day already for Harden. Either way, we get a rested Rockets team at home against a team that is stronger at home than they are on the road.

The Nuggets have one of the best home-court advantages in the league, so getting the Nuggets on the road is a plus for Rockets. The Nuggets are also dealing with some injuries with Paul Millsap out and might have to rely on young players like Jerami Grant and Michael Porter Jr. to slide into roles that they’re not accustomed to.

I think the Rockets roll a bit in this one after struggling on Christmas Day. This feels like a great get right spot for this Rockets team and I assume that they take advantage of this beat-up road underdog. The Nuggets are never an easy out defensively, but the rest days should help the Houston guys and I’ll lay the 4.5 points.
