The NBA is back! After a break for NBA All-Star festivities, pro basketball action returns on Thursday with a handful of games. Russell Westbrook and the Houston Rockets will be playing, and he’s the subject of an NBA player prop pick for Thursday, plus we’re also looking at the Milwaukee Bucks on the point spread. Let’s get to our NBA betting picks for Thursday, February 20.

Russell Westbrook, PG, Houston Rockets

– Over 7.5 Rebounds (-134)

My first betting pick for Thursday is a Russell Westbrook player prop and I’ll be on the over of 7.5 rebounds for him. I love this pick. So much so that I will be locking it in as my Lock Bet in the SharpSide app for the SharpSide Streak Contest.

The Houston Rockets are on the road against a bad Golden State Warriors team that they have been beaten up by for years. Now that the Rockets are playing small-ball lineups, this is opening a lot of rebound opportunity for the guards, especially a guy like Westbrook.

Westbrook hasn’t seen a huge boost in rebound numbers without Clint Capela, but the sample is small and they have played against tough matchups. The Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, and New Orleans Pelicans all have some big bodies that can feast on the boards. The one game Westbrook saw double-digit rebounds was against the Boston Celtics, when they played a ton of small-ball lineups.

I expect Golden State to play fast paced and use more small-ball lineups. If that’s the case, Westbrook should feast on the boards and I love the over on 7.5 rebounds.

Milwaukee Bucks (-13)

The Detroit Pistons are an absolute mess, losing every game since they traded away Andre Drummond. Now, the team’s have lost one of its best scorers to the LA Clippers, Reggie Jackson. This Pistons situation isn’t going to get better any time soon and I expect them to lose a lot of games.

I also could see them start to play their young guys more to get them some experience. This matchup on Thursday is not a good one against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks are one of the best teams against the point spread and are coming off a bad loss before the NBA All-Star break. I expect the Bucks to get right and destroy the Pistons. The Bucks have a 34-1 record against below-.500 teams and are 31-4 in 10-point games. When they beat an opponent, they beat them bad and Thursday night will be ugly for the Pistons.

I’m happy laying 13 points on the spread on the road and expect the Bucks to win by 20.
