2020 SuperContest Gold Standings Week 1: ‘Kick Picks’ Leads
The Westgate Las Vegas SuperContest Gold is a high buy-in football handicapping contest based out of Las Vegas. Contestants pony up a $5,000 buy-in and it’s played with a winner-take-all format that sees only one contestant walk away with prize money. The 2020 SuperContest Gold contest drew 72 entries and will award a $360,000 first-place prize.
After Week 1 of the SuperContest Gold, just one contestant remains perfect at 5-0. That contestant is ‘Kick Picks.’ Compare this to the regular SuperContest, where 27 of 1,172 contestants went 5-0 in Week 1.
‘Kick Picks’ was on the Chicago Bears (+3), Green Bay Packers (+2.5), Arizona Cardinals (+6.5), Los Angeles Rams (+3), and Pittsburgh Steelers (-6). Behind ‘Kick Picks’ on the SuperContest Gold leaderboard after Week 1 are 12 teams at 4-1.
The most popular Week 1 selection of the 2020 SuperContest Gold was the Rams (+3) with 28 picks. The Atlanta Falcons (+2) and Beats (+3) were each picked 22 times, and then the Cardinals (+6.5) was the next most popular selection with 20 picks.
The 72 entries in the 2020 SuperContest Gold are down from last year’s 117. The year before that, in 2018, the SuperContest Gold attracted a field of 128 entries. Since going from 94 entries in its inaugural year in 2017 to 128 entries in 2018, the SuperContest Gold has attracted a lesser turnout than the year before each season.
In 2019, it was contestant ‘Walter Payton’ topping the 128-entry field to win the SuperContest Gold’s $585,000 top prize.
