2020 Circa Sports Survivor Week 1: Colts Loss Crushes Hopes of 425 Entries
The Circa Sports Survivor contest drew 1,390 entries in its first year. At $1,000 per entry, the winner is set to take home $1,390,000, plus there is a $1,000,000 bonus prize for going an undefeated 18-0 on the season. After Week 1, 585 entries were lost, leaving 805 entries in the field.
In the first week of the Circa Sports Survivor, 425 entries picked the Indianapolis Colts to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Colts were 8-point favorites on the Circa Sports Million point spread, but Indianapolis lost outright 27-20 to the Jaguars. That means more than 30% of the Circa Sports Survivor field was eliminated in Week 1 action.
On the flip side of the Colts and Jaguars game, only one contestant picked Jacksonville. That was contestant ‘The Mad Russian,’ who has five entries. It was his fifth entry, ‘The Mad Russian-5,’ that selected the Jaguars to beat the Colts. With two of his other entries, he selected the Colts, so ‘The Mad Russian’ lost both of those. He also had the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills, with only the Bills winning from those two teams. As a result, ‘The Mad Russian’ is down to two entries from the five he started with.
Speaking of the Bills, they were the second most popular selection in Week 1 with 310 picks. Then it was the New England Patriots with 167 selections and the Baltimore Ravens with 120 selections. The Bills, Patriots, and Ravens all won in Week 1.
The team with the next highest number of selections in Week 1 that lost was the Eagles, who were picked by 77 contestants.
