Las Vegas SuperContest

Let’s take a look at the updated 2019 Westgate Las Vegas SuperContest standings after Week 9.

Whether you view Week 8 or Week 9 as the halfway point in the NFL season, it’s not officially time to look towards the second half. Week 9 is in the books and we’re onto Week 10. With its completion comes another week of SuperContest action, and we’ve also got a new leader atop the SuperContest standings. After Week 9, ‘BUD FOX’ has taken the lead.

The Cowboys covered, winning 37-18 over the New York Giants, and BUD FOX got the cover he needed. With the cover, BUD FOX improved to 33-11-1 overall, good for 33.5 points and a 1-point lead.

Looking at the Leader

With the Cowboys covering on Monday Night Football, BUD FOX earned a perfect 5-0 record in Week 9. In addition to having Dallas on his card, BUD FOX had the Carolina Panthers (-3.5), Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5), Los Angeles Chargers (+3.5), and Baltimore Ravens (+3).

It was the first 5-0 week for BUD FOX in the 2019 SuperContest, but it came after he strung together three consecutive 4-1 weeks. BUD FOX has yet to have a losing week and has maintained a picks record of 60% or greater.

Looking at BUD FOX’s 2019 SuperContest stats, we can see that he’s 22-8-1 with home teams and 11-3 with road teams. With home favorites, he’s 18-7-1. With home underdogs, he’s 4-1. With road favorites, he’s 4-1. With road underdogs, he’s 7-2. Although he did not have the New Orleans Saints or Minnesota Vikings on his card for Week 9, BUD FOX has been quite stellar with both of these teams. With the Saints, he’s 5-0 on the season. With the Vikings, he’s 4-0.

Elsewhere On the Leaderboard

A few members of the SharpSide family and friends variety are competing in the 2019 SuperContest, including ‘ROTOGRINDERS,’ which is the team name of RotoGrinders.com Co-Founder and CEO Cal Spears and SharpSide Product Manager Erik Beimfohr, ‘GRIDIRON GAMBLE,’ the leading sports betting podcast that focuses on the SuperContest and is part of the SharpSide network, ‘BACK AND BEER,’ which is the team of Dan Back and Chris Prince, and ‘PRINT FACTORY POD,’ which is the entry name for Print Factory Podcast host Tony ‘BigT’ Niehaus.

ROTOGRINDERS didn’t do so hot in Week 9. After going 2-3 in Week 8, ROTOGRINDERS went 1-4 in Week 9. The only winning pick made by ROTOGRINDERS in Week 9 was the Buffalo Bills (-9.5). The four losing picks were the Minnesota Vikings (+2.5), New York Jets (-3), Detroit Lions (+2.5), and Cleveland Browns (-3). Overall, the team is now 26-19. It’s not horrible, but the team has been sliding in the wrong direction as of late and will look to right the ship in Week 10.

GRIDIRON GAMBLE maneuvered its way back above the .500 mark with a 3-1-1 performance in Week 9. The Carolina Panthers (-3.5), Oakland Raiders (-2.5), and Denver Broncos (+3) were the three winning sides. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+6) resulted in a push, and then the Chicago Bears (+4.5) was a loss. Overall, the team is now 22-21-2, good for 23 points.

BACK AND BEER went 3-2 in Week 9, giving the team back-to-back 3-2 weeks after a 1-4 Week 7. It was the Pittsburgh Steelers (+1), Oakland Raiders (-2.5), and Baltimore Ravens (+3) as the winners, with the New York Jets (-3) and Cleveland Browns (-3) as the losers. BACK AND BEER moved to 21-24 overall.

PRINT FACTORY POD continued its dive with a 1-3-1 result in Week 9. That’s not four straight losing weeks and a four-week record of 5-14-1 recently. PRINT FACTORY POD had the New York Jets (-3), Detroit Lions (+2.5), and Cleveland Browns (-3) as losing picks. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+6) scored a push, just as it did for GRIDIRON GAMBLE, and then the Baltimore Ravens (+3) was a winner, just as it was for BACK AND BEER. PRINT FACTORY POD enters Week 10 at 19-25-1 overall.

The 2019 SuperContest attracted a record setting field of 3,328 entries, creating a prize pool of $4,592,640 and a first-place prize of $1,469,644.
